1997 Dyson DC03 Clear

One of my two Dyson DC03 Clears. This one is essentially 'as-found', and the handle/wand/hose/flex are replacements. My other one is in nicer condition, and I hope to build one decent machine out of the two. The DC03 Clear is a beautiful cleaner made almost entirely out of translucent plastic - so you can see everything that's happening inside! Unlike other Dysons, this one will lie flat under low furniture, without the head losing contact with the floor. At 7kg, it's very light; you can pick it up with one hand. It's also very manoeuverable in use. The motor's a tiny 700w unit, and the cleaner's not especially powerful (90aw) compared to, for instance, the DC07 or DC14 (280aw). Twinned with an unremarkable brush-roll, performance is mediocre. It'll get surface dirt with ease, but it's not exactly pounding out the trodden-in grit and grooming the pile! This machine really went after Oreck's market...it's WAY better than an Oreck in almost every respect, and has the added advantage of on-board tools. I also have the manual and full service history for this cleaner. Its spiritual successor would have been the DC18 Slim, and now the DC24 Ball.
